Canada offers international students world-class education and a multicultural experience. At Kingsbridge Immigration, we simplify the process of obtaining a Canada Student Visa (study permit) so you can focus on your studies and future.
Canada Student Visa
To study in Canada, you must first enroll and receive an acceptance letter from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). Once accepted, you can apply for a Canada Student Visa through the Canadian visa office for your country. With a valid study permit, you can legally live and study in Canada throughout your program.
Eligibility Requirements for a Canada Student Visa
To be eligible for a study permit, you’ll need to demonstrate:
Application Timing
Processing times vary by country, ranging from two weeks to several months. To ensure your application is processed in time, we recommend applying 4-6 months before your program begins.
If Your Study Permit Was Previously Refused
A previous refusal doesn’t mean the end of your study ambitions in Canada. Many refusals result from concerns about the applicant’s ties to Canada or reasons for their visit. With our support, we can address the reasons for refusal and strengthen your new application to increase your chances of approval.
Open Work Permit for Spouse or Partner
If you’re studying at a post-secondary institution in Canada, your spouse or common-law partner may be eligible for an open work permit, allowing them to work for any Canadian employer during your study period. Refusals are common, particularly if the immigration officer doubts the relationship’s authenticity, but our team can guide you in addressing these concerns in a reapplication..
Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)
After completing an eligible program, graduates may qualify for a three-year Post-Graduation Work Permit, allowing them to gain Canadian work experience. This work experience may also help you qualify for permanent residence through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program.
Eligibility for PGWP in light of recent changes by IRCC:
If you apply for a study permit on or after November 1, 2024, your eligibility for a PGWP will depend on your program of study and meeting the minimum language proficiency now required by the government (CLB5 for college graduates). IRCC has published a list of programs with a field of study requirement, this list can be accessed here.
